FIFA 2014 Visualization by Group D
All of our team members are soccer fans; so we decided to create some visualizations for soccer data. We found this dataset from the link:http://datahub.io/zh_CN/dataset/fifa-world-cup-2014-allplayers/resource/a7c22e7b-0f66-41b3-b705-f480ce2f07b5. This data set includes information of all players in 2014 Brazil World Cup.The first we visualization we created is a tree map that helps us
see which soccer club are good at producing national-level players of which positions(MidFielder/Defender/Forward/Goal Keeper). The larger and darker a rectangle(representing the club) is, the more FIFA games its players have played in the past. For example, FC barcelona mid-fielders have participated in the most FIFA soccer games(520). We have also created a geographical heat map that helps us see number of international goals each country has scored in the past. The last plot of bubbles helps us see clubs of which nations have produced how many FIFA 2014 players and how many international goals in the past. The size of a bubble represents its number of FIFA players; the darkness of the bubble represents its number of internationtal goals. For example, Premier League(British Soccer League) had 119 players playing in Brazil World Cup representing different countries. Also Premier League has produced most FIFA goals in the past.
